Dodgers Reliever Connor Brogdon Opts for Free Agency After Difficult Season
Connor Brogdon, a Dodgers relief pitcher, has become a free agent after an injury-riddled 2024 season. After clearing waivers, Brogdon was outrighted to Triple-A Oklahoma City but chose to decline the assignment. He appeared in just four MLB games last season, split between the Phillies and Dodgers, posting a disappointing 9.00 ERA over three innings. His struggles were compounded by plantar fasciitis, which sidelined him for most of the year.
Brogdon’s brief time with the Dodgers included a rough outing on April 9 before he landed on the injured list. During his rehab, he showed promise with a 3.21 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 14 innings across 14 appearances.
Now entering free agency, Brogdon’s departure leaves the Dodgers with 37 players on their 40-man roster, 23 of whom are pitchers. The team will make additional roster adjustments by November 22, the deadline for tendering contracts to players.
