Baltimore Orioles standout narrowly misses winning American League Rookie of the Year.
The Baltimore Orioles showcased one of baseball’s top rookies in 2024, making him a strong contender for this prestigious season-ending award.
The Baltimore Orioles anticipated having a Rookie of the Year contender this season, though few could have predicted who it would be. Outfielder Colton Cowser delivered a breakout performance, ultimately coming up just shy of earning the 2024 AL Rookie of the Year title, as announced by MLB on Monday night.
This also marks the end of Gunnar Henderson’s reign as Rookie of the Year, as his teammate Colton Cowser came close to claiming the title this season. Henderson won the award last year.
Cowser put together an impressive rookie campaign, finishing with a .241/.321/.447 slash line, 24 home runs, and 69 RBIs. He ranked third on the team in home runs and fourth in OPS+. Baltimore has plenty to celebrate with Cowser quickly emerging as a key contributor to their offense while remaining under team control through 2029.
