MLB Insider Evaluates Washington Nationals’ Odds of Reuniting with Juan Soto.

The Washington Nationals face a tough challenge if they hope to secure this superstar outfielder in free agency.

The Washington Nationals have set their sights on strengthening their roster this offseason, signaling plans to invest in talent to support their promising core of young players.

Among the team’s priorities, one of the most pressing is bolstering their lineup with more power, a need that general manager Mike Rizzo is expected to address.

The Nationals are in dire need of a true power hitter after managing just 135 home runs last season, barely ahead of the league-worst Chicago White Sox, who hit 133.

Last season, Washington relied heavily on an aggressive approach on the basepaths to generate runs. They led MLB with 223 stolen bases but also topped the league with 73 caught stealing attempts—far ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays’ 53.

Adding a power bat to the heart of the lineup would reduce the need for such high-risk base running, helping the team avoid unnecessary outs, maintain momentum, and extend innings.
