Jacko on Yokohama loss: “I’m looking for a reaction.
Central Coast Mariners Head Coach Mark Jackson did not hold back following Tuesday evening’s 4-0 loss to Yokohama F. Marinos.
Clearly frustrated, Jackson expressed his dissatisfaction, particularly with the first-half display that saw the team trailing 3-0 at halftime.
“It was extremely disappointing, especially our first-half performance,” said Jacko. “We believed we were prepared and had a clear plan for how we wanted to play.
“Against Vissel Kobe, despite the loss, we delivered a strong defensive performance, and we knew we needed to replicate that tonight.
“However, against a top team like Yokohama, everyone must be committed to the game plan, work hard, and stay connected. In the first half, some players didn’t stick to that, which is why we found ourselves 3-0 down at halftime.”
“When not everyone is on the same page, you might get away with it against weaker teams, but not against top-quality opponents,” Jacko explained. “You need to be fully committed in every moment and every action of the game. If even a few pieces of the puzzle are missing, you concede goals, and that’s exactly what happened to us in the first half.”
