Breaking News: This 60-year-old marathon majors runner is setting the standard.
It’s likely that you’ve met Yan (Mary) Ma, a 60-year-old masters marathoner from Coquitlam, British Columbia, if you’ve participated in any Abbott World Marathon Majors in the last five years. Having finished every major marathon, she is a Six-Star finisher. She plans to run all six marathon majors in a single year in 2025, having already earned her second Six-Star finisher medal and beginning her third. Ma first caught our notice in the fall of 2024 when she placed fourth and tenth in her age group at the Chicago and New York City marathons, less than four weeks apart. Ma’s amazing autumn season was finished off by these two top-10 majors results in the women’s 60–64 age group.
Like us, you may be curious about how she manages to run marathons and travel the world. Ma works as a part-time accountant for a company that allows her to fit her work schedule around races and trips.
