New York Jets Receive Update on Star C.J. Mosley’s Status Before Denver Broncos Match.

The New York Jets will need to manage their injured star linebacker carefully.

The New York Jets were without star linebacker C.J. Mosley during their Week 3 victory over the New England Patriots. While the defense performed well, Mosley’s absence was felt as he plays a crucial role for the team.

Jamien Sherwood, who stepped in for Mosley, performed impressively, providing the Jets with confidence and allowing Mosley to take the time needed to recover.

Heading into Week 4 against the Denver Broncos, the Jets are capable of securing a win, but they must approach the game seriously, especially with the Broncos coming off an impressive win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is a must-win game for the Jets if they want to be considered contenders.

Mosley did not practice on Thursday, and his status for the game remains uncertain. He indicated he wouldn’t play unless he feels fully recovered, telling ESPN’s Rich Cimini, “I want to be 100% before I return and don’t want to risk a setback.”

At 32 years old and entering his 10th NFL season, Mosley understands his body well. The Jets would be wise to respect his decision if he feels unfit to play. Rushing him back could be a costly mistake, especially with crucial games against undefeated teams in the coming weeks.

In 2023, Mosley recorded 152 tackles, five tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles. Beyond the stats, his leadership and positioning on the field are irreplaceable, even though Sherwood has performed admirably in his absence.

Mosley’s return will be critical as the Jets face tough opponents in the weeks ahead, which could determine their division and playoff hopes.
