Good News for the Dallas Cowboys Before Their Matchup with the Bengals
As the 5-7 Dallas Cowboys prepare to play the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, December 9, Monday Night Football, they are welcoming some positive news. With quarterback Cooper Rush filling in for an injured Dak Prescott, they have won their last two games; but, they still need to improve if they are to qualify for the Wild Card playoffs. Fortunately, the Cowboys are receiving some encouraging news this week, which may bolster their self-esteem before their game against the Bengals.
The defense of the Dallas Cowboys is receiving rave reviews. As the season draws to a close, several NFL commentators and experts are giving the Cowboys credit for their defensive turnaround.
In an article published on December 2, ESPN’s Todd Archer said, “The Dallas Cowboys’ defense is not perfect, but it is certainly better than it was at the start of the season.” Archer continued, “The Cowboys were on pace to be one of the worst defenses in franchise history,” adding that fortunately, that isn’t the case at the moment. The Cowboys have only given up more than 6.2 yards per play once in the last five Dallas games, and they have only given up more than 400 yards once. Additionally, they haven’t let an opponent convert more than 40% of their third-down opportunities. Overall, the defense appears to be better and the stats are up.
