CINCINNATI — Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow reflected on the team’s future during a difficult season, rubbing his chin as he considered the challenges ahead.
Sunday’s 44-38 home defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers marked another blow to a team that began the season with championship ambitions. Burrow acknowledged that the playoffs were far from his mind, with Cincinnati’s postseason chances now significantly diminished.
With five games left in the season, Burrow emphasized that how players handle the remaining stretch will reveal a lot about the team’s makeup and influence future roster decisions.
“I think we’ll learn a lot about who we have in the locker room — the guys we can count on moving forward and the guys we can’t,” Burrow said after the loss.
Cincinnati’s fifth-year quarterback and the offense delivered a strong early performance to keep the Bengals (4-8) in the hunt for a critical AFC North victory. However, their offensive efforts fell short once more, unable to compensate for the team’s defensive struggles.
