News Now: Two Americans win first place at the 2024 Pittsburgh Marathon.
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Over 20,000 runners participated in this morning’s marathon, but only two emerged as winners: one man and one woman.
Andrew Bowman, 30, and Jane Bareikis, 29, took the top spots in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Bowman finished with a time of 2:15:50, while Bareikis completed the race in 2:37:37.
This was the first major race victory for both. After the race, they shared with KDKA-TV that it was an unforgettable experience.
“I’ve had many high points in my life. I ran in college and did well there. This is definitely one of my top moments, if not the best,” Bowman said.
