O’s bring in another player; Eloy optioned, Kimbrel released.

On September 24, 2024, Baltimore welcomed back first baseman Ryan Mountcastle from the 10-day injured list before their series against the Yankees. Mountcastle had been sidelined since August 26 due to a left wrist sprain. He joins several others who have returned recently, including reliever Jacob Webb, outfielder Heston Kjerstad, lefty reliever Danny Coulombe, and infielders Jordan Westburg and Ramón Urías.

To make room for Mountcastle on the 28-man roster, the Orioles optioned designated hitter Eloy Jiménez to Triple-A Norfolk. Although Jiménez could have rejected the assignment due to his service time, he chose to accept it.

Jiménez joined the O’s on July 30 in a trade with the White Sox, part of several moves Baltimore made before the Trade Deadline. He had a strong performance in August, batting .296 (21-for-71) with five doubles, one home run, and seven RBIs in 23 games.
