Cooper Kupp Trade Rumors: Bills, Steelers Engaged in Talks for Rams Star

The Los Angeles Rams reportedly held discussions with several teams about trading wide receiver Cooper Kupp before their Thursday night victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini and Michael Silver, the Rams were in contact with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers about Kupp.
Talks between the Rams and Chiefs took place before Kansas City acquired DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans this week.
On Tuesday, Russini reported that the Rams had “called multiple teams” to assess interest in a potential trade for Kupp, with the Rams seeking a second-round pick in exchange and offering to cover some of Kupp’s salary.
On Thursday morning’s Get Up, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter suggested that the Rams might face difficulty moving Kupp due to their asking price and his current salary.
Kupp, 31, signed a three-year, $80.1 million extension in 2022 and remains under contract through 2026, carrying a nearly $30 million cap hit this season, according to Spotrac.
Russini also noted that talks between the Chiefs and Rams ended because Kansas City was unwilling to trade a high draft pick and needed a team to cover a significant part of the player’s salary.
Tennessee became Kansas City’s preferred trading partner, as the Chiefs acquired Hopkins for just a conditional fifth-round pick.
Meanwhile, the Bills recently traded for Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns, who made an immediate impact in their Week 7 victory over the Titans, recording four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.
With Cooper now in place, the Bills have a solid receiving trio with him, rookie Keon Coleman, and slot receiver Khalil Shakir, though adding more offensive options for quarterback Josh Allen could still be beneficial.
