Nick Kyrgios believes Andy Murray deserved a more dignified farewell from tennis.
Nick Kyrgios, known for his candid opinions, thinks that the intense physical sacrifices Andy Murray made to prolong his tennis career weren’t worth the toll on his body.
Kyrgios believes that Murray, who retired at 37 after significant hip surgeries and years of battling injuries, deserved a smoother and more graceful departure from tennis. Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion, ended his career in August following a loss in the Olympic men’s doubles quarterfinals.
Despite contemplating retirement as early as 2019 due to repeated surgeries, he continued playing for another five years. However, his efforts only saw him reaching the third round in Grand Slam tournaments during that period.
Kyrgios, who has also faced injury setbacks and hasn’t competed since August 2023, mentioned on *The Louis Theroux Podcast* that, while he isn’t considering retirement yet, he’s unwilling to put his body through the same intense strain that Murray did.
