How Much is NYSC Allowance for Doctors Nurses and Others In Medical Lines

If you are a medical graduate who is about to embark on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, you might be wondering how much allowance you will receive during your service year.

The NYSC allowance, also known as allawee, is the monthly stipend that the federal government pays to all corps members as a token of appreciation for their service to the nation.

The NYSC allowance varies depending on the state of deployment and the profession of the corps member. In this blog post, we will focus on the allowance for doctors, nurses and other medical personnel who serve in different states across Nigeria.

According to the official NYSC website, the current allowance for all corps members is N33,000 per month. However, this amount is subject to change depending on the availability of funds and the economic situation of the country.

In addition, some states pay extra allowances to corps members who serve in their domains, especially those in
critical sectors such as health and education.

For medical corps members, the state allowance can range from N5,000 to N50,000 per month, depending on the state and the level of qualification.

For example, Lagos State pays N15,000 to all corps members, plus an additional N20,000 to doctors and N10,000 to nurses. This means that a doctor serving in Lagos can earn up to N68,000 per month, while a nurse can earn up to N58,000 per month.

Other states that pay well to medical corps members include Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Kano, Ogun and Rivers. These states pay between N10,000 and N50,000 as state allowance to doctors and nurses. On the other hand, some states pay little or nothing to medical corps members.

These include Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger and Yobe. These states pay between N0 and N5,000 as state allowance to doctors and nurses.

Therefore, if you are a medical graduate who wants to maximize your earnings during your service year, you should consider applying for states that pay well to medical corps members.

However, you should also bear in mind that there are other factors that can affect your experience as a corps member, such as security, accommodation, transportation and social amenities. You should weigh the pros and cons of each state before making your final decision.
