The Nigerian Air Force is one of the most important branch of the military in Nigeria. It was established in 1964 and has since then been responsible for the protection of the Nigeria through the Air. Not just the air, They are often deployed alongside other Forces like the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy.

The Nigerian Air Force is a well-structured force that has a clear chain of command. This is possible because of the way the ranks and Salary is structured.

The Nigerian Air Force ranks are divided into two categories the same way the the Nigerian Army Ranks And the Nigerian Navy ranks is divided.

• The Commissioned officers

•  Non-commissioned officers.

The Commissioned officers are the high ranking officers who make strategic decisions and give commands. They are often regarded as commanders while Non-commissioned officers are the junior officer who receives orders from high ranking officers.

Nigerian Air Force Ranks

Those who joined the Nigerian Air Force using SSCE certificate are given the rank of Aircraft man while those who joined the Nigerian Air Force with National Diploma certificate are given the rank of Lance Corporal or Corporal depending on the trade test used in joining the force. Graduates with HND or BSC are given the rank of Flying Officer in the Nigerian Air Force.

The salary structure of the Nigerian Air Force is based on rank and years of service. The Nigerian Air Force officers are well paid and the salary structure is quite attractive when compared to other Forces in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Air Force SSCE certificate holders are paid about ₦52,892 monthly. National Diploma Salary In Air Force is between ₦57,892 – ₦67,892 monthly, While those with HND or BSC certificate are paid up to ₦200,892 monthly.

• Sergeant: ₦87,119 monthly.

• Corporal: ₦65,261 monthly.

• Lance Corporal: ₦59,261 monthly.
